Morning Routines

A morning routine sets the tone for the entire day. Before diving into my day, before texts, emails, or interacting with anyone, I commit to a simple self-affirming ritual. It affects my energy and attitude. Itโ€™s about showing up for myself. It helps get my body ready to positively encounter whatever comes my way. The list is not rigid. I change it when it seems necessary.

1. Chakra Rubs

Mentally, I notice how each chakra feels. I gently rub each one in a circular clockwise motion. If I sense one is clogged or off balance, I circle counterclockwise a few times, then proceed in a clockwise direction. I further connect the core chakras by placing my left hand on the heart and right hand on the solar plexus for a minute or two. Followed by a minute or two of one hand on solar plexus and one on the sacral chakra. This amazingly simple practice helps to balance the chakras and reset the nervous system.

2. Spinal Activation Through Stretching & Breathwork

  • Spinal Breathwork:
    • Imagine breathing into the bottom of the spine or tailbone.
    • Inhale for 7 or 8 seconds, while visualizing โ€œstrength and powerโ€ streaming into the back bottom of the spine and flowing up to the top of the spine.
    • Pause at the top for 2 or 3 seconds.
    • Exhale and visualize โ€œgrace and flexibilityโ€ streaming into the top front of the spine and flowing down to the bottom of the spine.
    • Pause at the bottom for 2 or 3 seconds
    • Repeat 15-20 times.
    • Sense the energy effortlessly going up and down the front and back of the spine.
    • Increase or decrease repetitions as needed.
    • Change the energy of the spinal activation by selecting different words.
  • While lying flat, I gently and slowly stretch the spine right and then left a couple of times. This gets the body ready for movement.

3. Simple Prayer
I call in my guides and thank them for their presence, protection, and help in following my path in the most authentic, and loving way. I pray that I hear their guidance and that it is clear, concise and in context so that I understand. I express gratitude for the opportunities/experiences that may come my way and send a blessing to friends and family.

4. Drink Water

As soon as I get out of bed, I drink a large glass of water. A minimum of 8 ounces. It is essential to rehydrate after sleeping because the body loses fluids through breathing all night. Water will kickstart metabolism and energy, flush toxins, support kidney function, and prepare the digestive system for food. Also, it supports brain health. The brain is 80% water, drinking improves concentration, memory, and cognitive performance. Finally, it promotes beautiful healthy skin by boosting blood flow.

5. Sounding

I have a lot of sound healing instruments to fine tune my energy field. Most of the time, I play tuning forks for several minutes and hum along with them.

6. Movement
Most mornings I go for a walk. If thereโ€™s inclement weather, I do Ping Shuai Gong (see Blog for description) or Qi Gong inside.
