What a captivating title. I recently read a post by Isaya Belle (www.isayabelle.com) where she shared her thoughts on joy. It was so inspirational, I have to share it. This is an excerpt from her blog. (โMake Joy Non-Negotiable and See Your Life Transformโ).
Joy has been misunderstood. It has been framed as a luxury. A reward. Something we earn once we have healed enough, worked hard enough, or finally gotten our lives together. But joy is not fleeting happiness or forced positivity. Joy Is NOT a feeling at all: Itโs a frequency. Itโs a vibrational state. Joy is power. Joy is a presence that transforms reality. Joy is our sacred right, not a bonus for when life settles down.
Try this experiment: think of something genuinely joyful. Feel into it with all your senses. Notice your shoulders soften. Your breath deepens. Your body responds. Thatโs not imagination. Thatโs physics. Thatโs consciousness. That is your nervous system remembering how to feel safe, alive, and expansive.
Everything you are emits energy. Your thoughts. Your breath. Your laughter. Your tears and frustrations. Your energy speaks before you do. Every moment, you are shaping your inner world and your outer reality through energy. When you consciously choose your state of being, you change how life responds to you. Joy is a threshold state. Cross it, and life starts moving differently. When you inhabit joy, youโre not merely feeling good, youโre accessing creativity, clarity, flow, and deep connection.
In 1995, in his book โPower vs. Force,โ Dr. David Hawkins introduced his groundbreaking โMap of Consciousness.โ Major emotions were placed on an energy scale. The emotions on the lower end of the scale drain our energy. The emotions of the top of the scale inspire and energize us.

Hereโs the surprise: joy sits higher than love on that scale. Even brief moments of authentic joy shift your frequency. Every step upward on the consciousness scale matters. Itโs not wishful thinking. When your inner state rises, your perception expands and the world reorganizes itself accordingly. When you make JOY non-negotiable, life responds.
Some basic rules to start:
- If it brings joy, it counts. If it stops feeling joyful, change it.
- Choose comedy over drama. Life can feel like a soap operaโฆ But you get to choose the genre.
- Watch your vocabulary. The stories you repeat. The tone you use with yourself and others.
- When life gets tough, ask yourself: Can I improvise? Can I laugh? Can I smile and breathe?
- Consistency Is Sacred. Joy is not a one-night stand. It is a relationship.
- And when joy fadesโฆ No guilt. Novelty is human. Find a new spark. Keep choosing again.
- Higher vibrational states compound. The more joy you practice, the more natural it becomes. Life flows more easily. Alignment deepens.
START NOW exactly where you are. You do not need a ritual, a temple, or perfect conditions.
Start small. Ask yourself daily: What is one tiny joyful thing I can do right now? Then do it.
