TUNING FORK TIPS FROM THE PODCAST BLOG 1

Thank you all who watched the โ€œProfessionals of the Roundtableโ€ podcast. During the last third of the podcast, I demonstrated several tuning fork techniques for healing and relaxation.

Letโ€™s start at the beginning. There are two kinds of forks, weighted and unweighted. A weighted tuning fork has weights solidly attached to one end of the fork. The weights transfer the tones back down to the stem so sound waves directly interact with the body. During the podcast, I used an Otto 128 hertz weighted fork. Unweighted forks create an expansive sound as sound waves travel outward from the fork. In the video I demonstrate techniques using C and G unweighted tuning forks. These two are often called body tuners and many websites sell them as a set. Together they create one of the most healing intervals, the perfect fifth.

A fork must be activated. There are several ways to do this. Hold the fork by the stem. The easiest method is to tap the two tines or prongs of a fork against the palm of the hand or thigh to make it vibrate. A second way is tapping it against a โ€œhockey puckโ€ which is a hard rubber tool commonly sold with forks. Tapping a small wooden mallet gently against the tines is a third method. It creates louder bright tones. Using two unweighted forks together allows for an extra activation method. They can be toned by gently tapping them together. (Please note that tapping them together may cause them to dent or chip and they could lose their pitch).

Once it’s vibrating, there are many ways to use the fork(s). With all the techniques, breathe deeply. Listen to the gentle sounds as they soothe your body. A single fork may be used by itself. Or multiple forks can be used at the same time in one hand, if that’s uncomfortable use both hands.

First technique. Activate the weighted fork and place the stem directly on the skin with light to medium pressure over any area that has pain or soreness. Hold the fork in place for 25 to 30 seconds until the vibration subsides. Tap it again and place it in the same place on the body. Applying a 128 hertz fork twice, produces a nitric oxide puffing response, which decreases inflammation and pain. Iโ€™ll talk about this in another blog post.

โ€œBody brushingโ€ is another method. Tone the fork. Hold it just above the skin and slowly and smoothly travel along any part of the body. The skin is very porous; sound waves will penetrate deep into body tissues.ย

A third application involves moving the toned fork back and forth from one ear to the other.ย  If you have two forks tap them together and place one about 3 to 5 inches from each ear. Let them sound for 25 to 30 seconds. Repeat two more times. Then switch sides and repeat the toning. For example, if you had the C fork near your left ear and the G fork near your right ear, rotate them.

With these techniques, itโ€™s important to be gentle and NOT OVERDO IT. Pay attention to how your body feels. It may take time before you notice change. Practice daily. Build slowly.

Thanks for listening to the podcast.
